About

El Dorado Archery Range is a public outdoor facility located within the expansive El Dorado Regional Park in Long Beach, California, at 7550 East Spring Street. The range operates from dawn to dusk and welcomes archers with their own equipment to practice on the grass field where targets are permanently set up. Visitors note the range is very spacious, allowing for plenty of room to focus on shooting, and mention that most archers set up at distances of approximately 18 meters, 50 meters, and 70 meters, with no designated distance markers so shooters can customize their setup. The facility uses hay bales with metal supports where archers can strap their own targets.

El Dorado Archers, a separate non-profit organization, operates weekly classes on Saturdays at the range. The club offers three levels of instruction: a safety class held from 9:00 AM to 10:20 AM, a beginner class from 12:00 PM to 1:20 PM, and an advanced class from 10:30 AM to 11:50 AM. All classes cost $5 per person (cash only, bills no larger than $20) and are open to anyone eight years old and up, though the safety class has a limit of 15 spots that fill up quickly. Equipment is provided during classes, and the club's instructors are registered with USA Archery and proficient in multiple archery styles, with Olympic-style archery being the primary form taught. Entry to El Dorado Park costs $8 per vehicle on weekends with cashless payment required at the booth, though yearly parking passes are available. Visitors mention that the surrounding park offers a full recreational experience with fishing ponds, playgrounds, and other activities, and guests highlight the friendly, helpful archery community at the range.
