Richmond Hill WMA Shooting Range is a comprehensive public shooting and archery facility operated by Georgia's Department of Natural Resources, located on the Richmond Hill Wildlife Management Area in Bryan County. Situated at 803 Kilkenny Road in Richmond Hill, the range is accessible by following Highway 144 east from town, then turning onto Kilkenny Road where the entrance is located 0.8 miles on the left side of the unpaved road.
The facility features extensive archery amenities alongside its shooting range capabilities. The archery offerings include a 20-lane ASA-approved 3D archery course, a static archery range, and a dedicated youth archery range. These facilities serve archers of all experience levels, from beginners to experienced competitors. The range also provides indoor and outdoor classrooms for instruction and training purposes.
Beyond archery, Richmond Hill WMA Shooting Range operates as a full-service shooting facility with 12 state-of-the-art electronic long-range shooting stations, 14 long-range steel shooting stations, and 20 short-range pistol shooting stations. The facility requires visitors to watch a range safety video before use and maintains specific ammunition restrictions, prohibiting Green Tip or armor-piercing ammunition.
The facility is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. (closing at sunset if earlier), with Monday closures. The range is also closed on Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
Richmond Hill WMA Shooting Range emphasizes community engagement and youth development through regular programming. Ladies Day occurs on the first Sunday of each month from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., offering a welcoming environment for female shooters with provided eye and ear protection and instruction from a training specialist. Youth Archery Experience programs are offered on select dates for ages 10 to 16, providing hands-on instruction in archery safety, equipment operation, and shooting fundamentals using adjustable Genesis bows. Youth Day at the Range takes place on the last Sunday of each month from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., featuring designated youth-only shooting lanes, archery opportunities, and available protective equipment.
Access to the range requires a valid Georgia Hunting License, Fishing License, or Lands Pass. Visitors should note that the remote location may result in limited cell reception. The range office can be reached at 678-879-3423.
