About

Located on the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources campus in Frankfort, this public archery facility opened its doors to serve the community. The range features eleven shooting lanes with target distances spanning from ten to fifty yards, giving archers of various skill levels room to practice and improve. Three of the lanes are designed with accessibility in mind for those with mobility considerations. For shooters interested in preparing for hunting season, a raised platform simulates the experience of shooting from a tree stand, allowing archers to practice from that elevated position.

The range operates during daylight hours from sunrise to sunset, seven days a week, though occasional closures occur when the department schedules educational programs. Users must obtain a shooting range permit to use the facility, though the permit is free for those holding an annual hunting or fishing license. Visitors will find parking available nearby and public restrooms conveniently located adjacent to the picnic shelter and near the lower lake. To maintain a safe and organized environment, the range enforces clear rules regarding safety procedures, archery etiquette, and equipment requirements, including the restriction that only field tips may be used on the provided targets—broadheads are not permitted.
