About

Situated on 40 wooded acres just east of Brown City, Mid Thumb Bowmen operates as a membership-based archery club serving both competitive and recreational shooters. The facility features a clubhouse at its center housing a 35-yard indoor range with 10 shooting lanes, complemented by a full kitchen and meeting space suitable for gatherings. During warmer months, the expansive grounds transform into an outdoor 3D course with 30 targets positioned throughout the property, offering a challenging shooting experience in a natural wooded setting.

The club maintains an active calendar of year-round programming that caters to archers of all skill levels. Winter months feature indoor 3D leagues, spot leagues, and youth archery programs running from January through March, with youth participation beginning as early as age 4. Spring and summer bring outdoor 3D competitions and youth leagues from April through June. The club also hosts IAA-sanctioned tournament shoots both indoors and outdoors, as well as fundraising events. Equipment rental is available for youth participants who lack their own bows, with youth league participation costing around $30 per child and offering prizes, t-shirts, and social events like pizza parties.

Visitors consistently praise the welcoming atmosphere and strong community focus, noting that the staff and volunteers are particularly excellent with young archers and families. Guests appreciate the friendly people throughout the club and highlight both the well-maintained outdoor 3D course and the overall family-friendly environment. For membership and program details, interested archers can contact the club directly at the Stimson Road location.

Monday nights at 6:30pm for eight weeks, open to any age with no restriction on bows or sights. Ten three-arrow ends, and an arrow touching a line scores the higher value. Scores run on an honour system: members can shoot any day of the week whenever the clubhouse is free, but non-members shoot Monday nights unless they come with a member. Archers must shoot at least six of the eight weeks to enter the closing tournament, where everyone is ranked by average and shoots off against others of similar standard; the tournament carries a separate $20 buy-in.
