About

South County Archery Range operates a public walk-through facility spanning approximately 40 acres within Jefferson Barracks Park in South St. Louis County. The range features 28 shooting lanes set throughout a natural wooded environment, offering shot opportunities ranging from 5 to 80 yards. Public access to the range is free year-round, though a small fee is charged for organized 3D shoots held every Wednesday from April through early October. Crossbows are permitted on select targets within the facility.

The organization behind the range, South County Archers, has been active in the archery community since its formation in 1964. They host introductory archery classes designed for both youth and adults, offering instruction in the fundamentals and skill development. Beyond regular open range access, the club organizes multiple 3D tournaments and fun shoots throughout the year, including weekly Wednesday evening events that conclude with social gatherings at an on-site pavilion. Three major annual tournaments provide competitive opportunities for archers of varying skill levels and disciplines, including traditional bow, crossbow, and bowhunter categories. The facility serves as a gathering place for the local archery community, promoting fellowship among participants while supporting youth programs and veteran rehabilitation initiatives.
