Union County Archery Range at Oak Ridge Park

Union County's first and only public archery range operates at Oak Ridge Park in Clark, offering a community-focused facility built with significant volunteer support from the archery community. The range operates from dawn to dusk daily and welcomes archers who hold a current annual Union County Archery ID Card, which requires proof of completing an approved safety course. The facility offers group archery safety lessons for participants as young as nine years old, with registration opening in March each year for multiple sessions scheduled throughout spring, summer, and early fall. Those looking to advance their skills can pursue intermediate lessons, available by appointment for small groups at an hourly rate. To use the range, archers must bring all their own equipment, including bows, arrows, and targets, as the facility does not supply these items. Shooting is restricted to longbows, recurve bows, and compound bows with a maximum draw weight of 70 pounds, with only target and field points permitted. The range maintains strict safety protocols, limiting shooters to six arrows per relay with a ten-minute time limit, and crossbow use is permitted only for individuals holding a New Jersey State crossbow license for the physically challenged. Annual archery ID cards are affordable, with different rates for county residents, out-of-county visitors, youth, and seniors.
