About

The Floyd Bennett Field Archery Range operates as part of Gateway National Recreation Area's Jamaica Bay Unit in Brooklyn. The range is open daily from February 1 through November 30 each year, with operations suspended from December through January. An annual permit is required to use the facility, which can be purchased through Recreation.gov during the designated permit sales window each spring. Archers must be at least 18 years old to obtain a permit, though permit holders are allowed to sponsor up to two minor children. Only compound and traditional bows are permitted at the range; crossbows are prohibited. Broad head, judo points, and other hunting tips are not allowed, and balloon targets cannot be used. Shooting across lines and at wildlife or other objects is strictly forbidden, and alcohol consumption is prohibited at all times. Equipment rental is not available at the archery range, so visitors must bring their own bows and arrows. The facility enforces strict adherence to all park regulations and policies to protect the area's historical and natural resources.
