Saratoga Sand Plains Wildlife Management Area Archery Range

Located just north of the Wilton Mall in Saratoga Springs, this public archery range offers a welcoming outdoor shooting experience within a 59-acre wildlife management area. The facility operates year-round during daylight hours at no cost to visitors, making it an accessible option for archers of all levels. The range features 16 targets arranged across multiple shooting areas: eight adult lanes extending from 15 to 50 yards, four youth lanes ranging from 5 to 20 yards, and four additional lanes accessed via an elevated platform that reaches up to 40 yards. The elevated platform uniquely simulates tree stand shooting angles, allowing archers to practice at different heights while wearing a safety harness and practicing proper anchor techniques for hunting situations.

The setting emphasizes accessibility and family participation. A level access path stretching 700 feet from the gravel parking lot features a compacted natural surface with minimal slope, making it suitable for families with children and seniors. The range operates under specific safety protocols, including requirements that shooters use field or target points only and that no broadheads be present except by permit. The natural surroundings reflect the area's Pine Barrens ecosystem, featuring pitch pine and scrub oak vegetation. The facility was constructed using wildlife restoration grant funding and support from the town of Wilton, and it remains actively maintained throughout the year for public recreational use.
