About

Deerfield Township Archery Range operates as a free, public practice facility located within Carter Park in Kings Mills, Ohio. The range sits in an open field setting at the northeastern edge of the park's paved pathway loop and welcomes community members daily from half an hour after sunrise until half an hour before sunset. The facility features block targets positioned at four different distances—10, 20, 30, and 40 yards—allowing archers to practice at varying skill levels.

The range was developed with safety as a primary consideration and adheres to guidelines established by the National Field Archery Association. The design incorporates accessible paved pathways throughout the shooting area, including clearly marked shooting lines, designated waiting areas, and individual target lanes that are 10 feet wide. Fencing and signage define the range boundaries, and all shooting occurs in a single direction. Each lane includes a bow rack and benches for spectators, along with signal flags for arrow retrieval. Range guidelines and safety information are posted at every shooting station. The facility underwent closure periods for scheduled maintenance and formal programs to ensure continued safety for all users.
