Located at 2662 Mullet Hall Road on Johns Island, the Archery Range & 3-D Course at Johns Island County Park offers a comprehensive archery experience for archers of all skill levels. The facility features a traditional shooting range with six targets positioned at varying distances of 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, and 50 yards, allowing archers to practice and develop accuracy across multiple ranges.
Beyond the standard range, the park operates an immersive 3-D archery course that takes shooters through a wooded setting. This 20-target course is designed to simulate a bow-hunting experience, with archers walking the course through the forest and shooting from one of three designated stake positions—yellow, blue, or red. The wooded environment creates a natural, scenic backdrop for the shooting experience while providing instruction in realistic hunting scenarios.
Admission to both the archery range and 3-D course is affordable at just $2 per person, with free access for Gold Pass members. The facility requires that visitors bring their own equipment, as no rental equipment is available. To help track usage, the park requests that all shooters sign the user log upon arrival.
The archery range operates under strict safety guidelines designed to protect all participants. Field tips only are permitted; broadheads and crossbows are prohibited. Clear communication protocols are enforced, with commands like "Line Hot" indicating shooting is beginning and "Clear" or "Pull" signaling that archers should stop shooting and retrieve arrows. Children under 16 must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
The facility maintains a family-friendly environment with no smoking, alcohol, or illegal drugs permitted on the premises. The course may close during special events, and users are encouraged to pack out all trash and report any unsafe conditions to park staff immediately. Wildlife awareness is promoted, with visitors advised to remain alert and respectful of animals, particularly snakes, which should be left undisturbed.
