Newport News Park Archery Range

Located within the campground area of Newport News Park on Jefferson Avenue, this public archery facility offers a straightforward setup for archers of all skill levels. The range consists of ten shooting lanes with two designated specifically for crossbow use, with targets positioned at distances extending to 65 yards. The facility operates from sunrise to sunset, providing flexible access throughout the day. Use of the range requires a valid archery safety permit, which can be obtained through the Newport News Park Campsite Office. Daily permits cost five dollars, while annual permits are available for thirty-five dollars. Before accessing the range, archers must successfully complete a mandatory safety course that includes watching an instructional video and passing an age-appropriate written test. Youth archers thirteen and younger require their supervising adult to complete and pass the adult-level course as well.
