Southside Archery Park

Southside Archery Park is Huntsville's public archery facility, situated at 16271 Chaney Thompson Road SE. This outdoor range operates year-round during standard park hours and welcomes recreational shooters, competitive archers, and those interested in outdoor education programming. The facility features multiple shooting areas designed to accommodate different skill levels and purposes. An adult range spans 15 to 70 yards across ten targets, while a dedicated youth range covers 5 to 15 yards with four targets. For those interested in hunting applications, an elevated platform with four targets set at 10 to 40 yards allows bowhunters to practice realistic hunting scenarios. The park is free to use for children under 16 and seniors over 65, while middle-aged Alabamians require a hunting license, Wildlife Management Area license, or Wildlife Heritage license to participate. Non-residents need either an annual WMA license or a non-resident hunting license, both available through local retailers and online. The facility is part of a broader network of archery parks across Alabama and hosts competitive tournaments throughout the year.
