UAF Archery Range

Golden North Archery Association operates the only archery club and ranges in Fairbanks, featuring both indoor and outdoor facilities. The outdoor range sits on private property off Chena Hot Springs Road and remains open year-round during daylight hours, with two fourteen-target field ranges offering shooting distances from twenty feet to eighty yards. A forty-lane three-dimensional course accommodates summer league competitions and weekend tournaments. The indoor facility serves archers during the colder months with a full schedule of activities. Membership is required to access the ranges, with options ranging from annual memberships to lifetime memberships available for a one-time fee. The organization conducts S3DA-sponsored archery education for youth up to seventeen years old, with indoor instruction running from October through April and outdoor programs from May through August. Throughout the year, the association hosts numerous competitive events, themed shoots, and league competitions for both traditional and compound bow shooters. The club maintains an online shop where members can find pricing information for memberships, range fees, and tournament entries. Founded in 1961 as the Golden North Bowhunters Association with just forty-five members, it has grown to over one hundred participants representing various archery disciplines. The organization emphasizes a family-oriented atmosphere where children are actively encouraged to participate alongside adults and receive equal recognition and awards.
