Lake Poway Archery Range

Located at Lake Poway in Poway, California, this outdoor archery facility welcomes shooters of all skill levels, from casual recreational archers to those pursuing competitive and Olympic-level training. The range operates seasonally, opening thirty minutes after sunrise and closing thirty minutes before sunset, and accommodates visitors on a first-come, first-served basis as well as by private reservation for special events like birthday parties and tournaments.

To use the facility, all archers must obtain a current Lake Poway archery card, which costs nineteen dollars and remains valid for one year. The range enforces strict safety protocols, including prohibitions on broadheads and crossbows, and requires all shooters to fire from a designated shooting line with no more than six arrows at a time. Visitors must supply and remove their own targets, which are limited to standard target bales.

The City of Poway offers archery instruction through seasonal camps and classes during spring and summer for both adults and youth. Additionally, Junior Olympic Archery Development provides year-round training for all ages, taught by state and national champion Alanna Dunaway, who holds a certified NTS level IV Olympic Coach certification.
