North Sterling State Park Archery Range is a premier outdoor archery facility operated by Colorado Parks and Wildlife, located in Sterling, Colorado. Situated east of Balanced Rock near the outlet canal within North Sterling State Park, the range offers a scenic and challenging environment for both traditional and compound archers.
The facility features multiple specialized shooting areas designed to accommodate different skill levels and practice styles. The main walking trail archery range includes 11 stations with 18 targets, providing distances ranging from 15 to 60 yards and beyond. For those looking to sight in their equipment, the range offers three dedicated sight-in targets positioned at 20, 30, and 40 yards along an easy access, ADA-accessible trail. The facility also features two elevated platforms that simulate tree stands, allowing hunters to practice shooting from realistic hunting conditions and angles, including challenging shots across gullies and through brush. Both the simulated tree stands and sight-in area are ADA accessible.
The archery range operates from sunrise to sunset daily, providing ample daylight hours for practice and instruction. All shooting stations accept practice tips only, and broadhead tips are permitted. Access to the range requires purchase of a Colorado Parks and Wildlife park pass, which covers daily or annual admission. The facility is easily accessible by vehicle via paved roads, with clear directions available from Interstate 76.
Visitors should note that hearing and eye protection are strongly recommended while shooting at the range, and all safety guidelines set forth by Colorado Parks and Wildlife should be observed.
