About

West Michigan Archery Center is a nonprofit archery facility located in Rockford, Michigan, just east of US 131 near downtown Rockford. The center operates as both an education and training hub and a community organization, staffed entirely by volunteers and dedicated to promoting archery to people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.

The facility features a 24-lane indoor shooting range and multiple outdoor areas for year-round practice. Indoors, archers can participate in open shooting at scheduled times, while the outdoor areas include a target range with marked distances from 20 to 90 meters and a 3D course with 25 targets winding through a wooded trail that typically takes two hours to complete. The 3D course operates seasonally from May through early October.

WMAC offers comprehensive instruction through USA Archery-certified coaches. Beginners can start with the Introduction to Archery course, a five-week program designed for ages 10 and up, where all equipment is provided. The center also runs Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) and Adult Archery programs during regular practice sessions on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. For those seeking more personalized attention, private coaching sessions are available. Additional specialized programs include Scholastic 3D Archery for school-age students and adaptive clinics for participants with physical and cognitive disabilities.

For recreational shooters, the center hosts winter leagues with handicap scoring systems, open shooting hours for various skill levels, and regular tournaments throughout the year. Indoor open shooting costs $15 for adults and $10 for students, while equipment rentals are available. Members enjoy free access to all open shooting times. The facility also welcomes casual visitors during scheduled open shoot times and welcomes inquiries from those interested in getting involved as volunteers or members.
