About

Houston Archery Lessons operates inside West Houston Archery with 12 indoor lanes dedicated to teaching. Founded as a family-owned and operated business, the facility has been offering archery instruction since 1986 under the direction of James Loesch, a USA Archery Level III certified instructor who has contributed to dozens of national championships and trained multiple Junior Olympians.

The range welcomes archers of all skill levels, from complete beginners as young as six years old to competitive shooters and hunters. All equipment is included with lessons at no extra cost, making it accessible for those without their own bows and gear. Private lessons are available with various instructors at different price points, while group classes are limited to six students per session. The facility also hosts JOAD (Junior Olympic Archery Development) every Saturday morning at 10 a.m., where participants can earn achievement pins based on their scores. Summer camps run from June through August for ages eight and up, with instruction, skill development, and friendly competitions throughout each day.

Visitors consistently praise the welcoming, family-oriented atmosphere and the instructors' patience and expertise. Guests mention that instructors excel at helping beginners feel at ease while also advancing competitive archers toward elite levels. Those who've been there note the knowledgeable and passionate staff, and many highlight how students develop lasting enthusiasm for the sport. For those seeking ongoing access, the facility offers range memberships that allow students to use the lanes and store equipment on-site.
