About

Located just 15 minutes south of Olympia in Rochester, Capitol City Bowmen has served the archery community for seven decades since its founding in 1956. The club operates across 140 acres of forested terrain in the Black River Valley, offering shooters a serene natural setting with scenic views of the surrounding hills and abundant wildlife. As a chartered member of both the Washington State Archery Association and the National Field Archery Association, the facility actively supports youth development through partnerships with the National Archery in the Schools Program.

The club maintains two distinct shooting areas to accommodate different styles of archery. A 100-yard target range features a covered 10-lane shooting station with lighting, while an extensive 3D trail range winds throughout the property with trail shoots sometimes featuring as many as 100 targets. The facility welcomes archers of all ages and skill levels, and members enjoy access during extended hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily throughout the year. For those interested in joining, new member orientation classes are regularly scheduled. The club also offers opportunities for skill development through various programs designed to engage archers at different experience levels. Those visiting seasonally find the landscape continuously evolving, from vibrant autumn colors and snow-covered winters to spring flowers and lush summer greenery. The property functions as a wildlife preserve, so hunting is not permitted. The club provides onsite camping for select events, though the facility operates as a dry site without water or sewage hookups. An electronic gate system controls member access to the grounds.
