About

Located on the northwestern corner of the Lon Hagler State Wildlife Area in Loveland, Dennis Hansen Archery Range is an outdoor facility stewarded by the Big Thompson Bowhunters club for over forty years. The range features twenty-five shooting stations with multiple sight-in backstops accommodating distances from five to seventy yards, along with broadhead sand backstops, raised shooting platforms, and pit blinds that provide challenging, realistic hunting scenarios for archers of all skill levels. The facility operates from sunrise to sunset daily and caters to both novice and experienced bowhunters seeking to develop their shooting abilities in a family-friendly environment.

While public access is available to anyone with a valid hunting or fishing license or state wildlife area pass, the Big Thompson Bowhunters club offers membership options that provide discounted rates for their monthly 3D archery competitions held throughout the spring and summer months. The organization also hosts various activities throughout the year, including a popular annual Big Game Feast, bowhunter education programs, youth mentorship opportunities, and regular range maintenance days. Beyond the shooting facilities themselves, the club supports youth groups like Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, as well as local wildlife initiatives and programs for hunters with disabilities.
